Volkswagen corporation was looking for new concepts for a car body with less joint complexity which can be mass produced. How could such a body look like? Which new joining methods can be used? How can classic joining methods be reduced? These questions were profoundly answered by the community.

The aim of the contest was to improve the luggage compartment of BMW cars. The contest existed out of three categories: variability, restraint system and coverage of the luggage compartment. It was possible to develop a feasible solution within each of the categories.

Pöttinger was looking for solutions for a technical problem: the optimization of the alignment of the balde of grass, to improve the cut in the loading wagons and silage trailers. The aim of the contest was a better alignment in the cutting of the crop. This resulted in significant advantage for the complete following process. Machine Engineers, farmers, designers, hobby workman and creative and interested people were invited to join the contest.

The contest especially focused on customer Touchpoints, where customers and the customer-service department come into contact; Apps & all means of new technology communication as well as customer loyalty programs. Moreover HYVE established an area called the “Blank Room”, where contestants were invited to submit their most exciting and out-of-the-box ideas which do not fit into the other three categories.

What challenges can the crowd be useful for?

The HYVE Crowd offers a wide range of applications. From technical imponderables, e. g. in production, testing of products or services to comprehensive business model evaluation - there are no limits for the crowd. Find more information under Products.

I need quick testing (of a product or process). Is that possible?

Yes, this can and will be used to efficiently use the time between two sprints. No matter if target group targeting or geographic focus, this and further target-oriented variations are feasible.

I already collected ideas, but I can't realize them. Now what?

The methods for this case are in our DNA. Whether it is the lack of (infra)structure or inexperience in rapid prototyping: The solution to these situations is the reason why HYVE and the Crowd exist.

Is the HYVE Crowd a product or how do I visualize it?

HYVE Crowd solves challenges in the business environment with the help of a globally diverse and experienced community. With the power of HYVE Crowd different products can be instrumentalized. You can find them in our products-section us.

Is my problem solved by the HYVE Crowd community or by HYVE itself?

That's a really good question! It is possible to use only the HYVE Crowd community. The HYVE experts themselves can be booked in addition, e. g. for the purpose of verifying or clustering ideas and as sparring partners.

How are the IP rights being transferred when ideas are adopted?

The regulation is clearly marked in our General Terms and Conditions. If a prize money is paid by our customer for a placement at Challenge, the idea or intellectual property is also compensated and the rights are transferred to our customer. The unplaced ideas are open source, so the IPs stay with the originator. Special conditions of participation may vary depending on the crowd challenge.
